La Leche League Stourbridge

Mother to Mother Support for Breastfeeding

What are meetings like?

LLL meetings are like a chat amongst friends. Sometimes meetings are quiet and reflective as we support a mum who's having a difficult time establishing breastfeeding, sometimes lively and animated as we discuss ways of standing up to criticism of our parenting choices or think of ways to find time for partners when we have babies in the house! Sometimes we just enjoy the company of like minded mums.

The accredited leaders are  there to ensure that mothers' questions are answered accurately, using the most up to date research and information available to them through La Leche League's vast bank of resources. They lead a discussion (hence the term 'leader') usually following a format of a 'series' of topics (hence the term 'series meetings'). The topics are loosely arranged under the following headings

  • The advantages of breastfeeding
  • Baby arrives: the family and the breastfed baby
  • The art of breastfeeding and avoiding difficulites
  • Weaning and nutrition

Series meetings are held monthly on Thursdays in Kidderminster and Tuesdays in Halesowen.

There is always time to look at the library of books and have a drink and a snack.

Children are welcome therefore during school holidays meetings are sometimes noisier. Please bring your baby or toddler we love to see them and we will give you support and encouragement whatever stage of breastfeeding you are at.
